Installing Converter

I just installed converter on my VC server.

I try to point to the license and get an error.

I am pointing to the vmware.lic file on my VC server.

The error I get is "an invalid license"

I know I am licensed for enterprise.

What license file am I supposed to use?

thanks

Your license file shoud have "INCREMENT P2V_ENTERPRISE VMWARELM 3.0 permanent uncounted " in it. Did you go through the process to activate and obtain the license from the Vmware licensing web page?

Just a note... You don't have to have the Converter license in the same file as the rest of your VC/ESX environment.

You only have to have a text file with the above mentioned information.

Good point, it was a little confusing for me at first. P2V used a license key instead of a file. When I downloaded the license file for Converter I initially thought I had to add it to the License Server and VirtualCenter. I found out later that you just had to select it anywhere Converter is installed.

Converter and VirtualCenter have separate license files. You need to obtain a Converter host-based license using your redemption code. The license file is a .lic file and you can add it via the Converter interface.

It's as pangchen says. There is a seperate license file for converter that is seperate from VC. Once you activate the license code, and redeem the license code, you should be able to get a file emailed to you or download directly from the license activation web site.
