Incompatible version of P2V assistant

I am trying to install the VMware Importer RC that was released today (30557) and I am getting the message:

  • An incompatible version of VMWare P2V assistant is installed. Please uninstall this product before continuing.

We have a general server with a large amount of disk where we P2V (2.1.1-22603) the servers and the run the importer to bring them into ESX 3.0. Can we no longer do this from the same machine? If I install P2V 2.1.1 after I insatll the new importer will it break? Has anyone run into this yet?

Virtual Machine Importer RC installs an enhanced version of the VMware Virtual Mount Manager Extended service that is incompatible with P2V 2.x. This unfortunately means that you can no longer run Virtual Machine Importer on the same host as P2V 2.x. If you install P2V 2.x on top of Virtual Machine Importer RC, P2V 2.x will fail.

I apologize for the inconvenience!

Do you know if this will always be the case? Or are there plans to allow these to co-exist?

To make things worse, after I uninstalled P2V, it said that VC2 was incompatible as well...

Should I uninstall that as well and how do I manage my servers after that?
