  • 1.  General System Error Occurred

    Trying to migrate from old standalone ESXi to a new SAN with ESXi 6.  The migration gets 30% complete and fails with a general system error - no exception is specified. 

    I guess the first question is does the 5.5 converter work with ESXi version 6?  I could not find anything stating one way or another.

    Assuming the converter does not work what other options do I have for moving from a stand alone server to a different server/datastore?

    According to https://www.vmware.com/support/converter/doc/conv_sa_552_rel_notes.html#interop it does not support 6.0

    A couple of routes - set up a an NFS server on your network and connect the old ESXi host to it and copy the VMs to NFS data stores and then connect it to your ESXi 6 host and move the VMs to what ever data store you want
