Failed to retrieve haerware informations

Hallo community,

We have big problem with converting one restored 2008 32bit machine into VSphere.

Witch following VMware standalone converter versions: 4.1. 4.3, 5.0.1 we are getting always “Cannot retrieve Hardware information”.

In .vmx file we have following information:

After restore two hard disks are divided into 2GB Files instant single files, which makes the mounting impossible.

Does anyone has an idea that could help me with the converting problem?

Welcome to the communities.

if you would like to virtualize it live, you should install the converter agent on the virtual machine and live clone it.      

have you installed that agent .

Your error is:

you should check VM that all disks are present and in good shape, VDDK tools could help you. HTH

Or of course convert as live machine

I found the same error also by running command:

vmkfstools -i scsi0-0-0-SXenApp00DE.vmdk -d thin scsi0-0-0-SXenApp00DE_t.vmdk

DiskLib_Check() failed for source disk The system cannot find the file specified (25).

I restored another version of the machine and it works like a charm. This is very strange situation because on Simpana Galaxy we haven’t seen errors with the last backup.

Anyhow this is other problem, for sure not with converter.
