Fail to Convert a Redhat Enterprise 4 Physical Server

Dear all

My Colleague tried to convert the Redhat Enterprise 4 physical Server, but fail.

He tried three steps below.

1.Standalone Convert - (Converter Standalone 5.0.0-470252) Hangs at 0% do not proceed anymore after 2-3 hours.(Standalone Convert Hang)

2.Cold Clone (Offline Convert)  (VMware Converter 4.1.1 Boot CD) - Fail at 2% (Attchment VMwareConverterLogs & Offline-Convert)

3.Acronis Backup to Tib, then convert with convert server. but after convert.the OS fail to Startup

(Acronis TrueImage Echo Enterprise Server 9 & Acronis Backup & Recovery 2011) (Attchmet Convert Acronis Tib fail)

I Checked the VMware vCenter Converter Standalone User's Guide(both v4 & v5) Page 20. Redhat Enterprise 4.x is on the support list.

Does anyone know the tips to conver a Redhat Enterprise 4 OS.or did we miss some improtant step from our logs?

Any suggestion will be very appreciated .Thanks

Can you please export the logs of the attempt with converter standalone? Right click on the failed/hanged task and select 'Export logs'. It is good to have the helper VM logs in it.

Converting a live Linux machine uses the following process: Converter creates the destination VM, deploys a helper in it which then connects to the source and uses tar to pull all the files. This hang may mean failure to deploy the helper, network problem, tar taking too long, ...
