Error: "You have not selected one or more system/active volumes

I try to convert a W2003 machine

Drive C: is on hd 0, while d:, e:,F: are on hd1

I find drive c: with a system/active-icon, 😧 as active. E: and F: are marked as unknown

Converter now complains that no system/active volume was selected, but c: is hooked !!

Can someone help me ?

It could be because the D drive, while marked as active, hasn't been selected. The error probably says one or more drives marked as active aren't selected

Try running the conversion and include the D drive. If you really don't want it, remove the "ACTIVE" mark on the D drive, and rerun the conversion

Regards

Daniel

What happens if you choose just C: ?

What happens if you choose just C and D?

Assuming drive E and F are unknown due to a dualboot for windows/linux:

Cloning dual boot systems

When hot cloning dual boot systems, you can clone only the default operating system that boot.ini points to. If you want to clone the non-default operating system, change boot.ini to point to the other operating system and reboot. Once you are booted into the other operating system you can install Converter and hot clone it.

I would try running converter as the local admin directly on the powered on machine and try it that way.

I have a similar issue with an XP system - unless I select all drives, I can't continue without the warning http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i37/rendez2k/error.jpg. Selecting C drive only and continuing causes conversion to fail at 1%. Any ideas?

what is the os?

what does your boot.ini say?

I also saw the same issue tonight converting a server that had a Dell system partition on it (50MB partition marked with a question mark). We had done other Dell servers with the same type of partition, but somehow this partition was marked as active, so prompted with the same error. We were able to ignore the error and convert and boot the VM without any issue.
