Error: Unable to connect to the Converter helper server on the destination virtual machine.

I keep getting this error and i have checked all the steps with the helper VM and it gets stuck at 1% then errors after about three hours this is with a static IP for the helper address. converter 5.1 is what i'm using

Welcome to the Community - CHeck the network between the machines - make sure vlans are configured correctly and the necessarey ports are open.

All the ports are open and everything is on the same vlan

If you using static IP for *previous* conversion, just change it, this is known problem with static IP and Linux conversion. HTH

What do you mean by previous?

this error also popped up "FAILED: Cannot communicate with the remote host, either due to network errors or because the host is not responding." but everything on the network has checked out

So turn off UAC.

Are the helper and source VM on the same subnet?

Is this P2V, V2V? What kind of disk controller is used, what file system, what guest OS and kernel version? Is that actually supported as per Converter Release Notes?

Yes they are on the same subnet. P2V. not sure on the controller, CentOS for both not sure on the exact kernal version i will see if i can find out i will check it out

Kernals on source and destination is 2.6.18-348.6.1.el5

I have the same problem today and fixing an IP address during the conversion process have solved my problem.

The address must be different and unuse in the network.

En la consola de VMWARE Vcenter converter Standalone se deberá asignar 3 Direcciones IP que son las sgtes a modo de ejemplo las asignaré:

IP Origen: 192.168.1.10

IP Destino: 192.168.1.20

IP temporal: 192.168.1.30

La ip temporal es necesaria ingresarlo al momento de generar la tarea de configuración con la herramienta VMWARE Vcenter converter Standalone
