Error: An error occurred during reconfiguration, fails at 97% conversion

Hi All,

Recently I'm trying to convert a VM however it failed at 97% conversion with this error: An error occurred during reconfiguration.

Below is the screenshot of the error when it occurred.

We tried to untick the reconfiguration option and rerun back the conversion, it completes however we can't test if the VM works well as our Servers space are quite limited.

Attached also is the log of the job.

We tried to read the log, but we couldn't understand which part is causing the error.

It would be grateful if someone could lead us to the root of this issue.

Windows error 1016 is ERROR_REGISTRY_IO_FAILED (An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The registry could not read in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contain the system's image of the registry.)

Is it possible the software hive f the source machine registry is corrupted?

Hi

while doing conversion  P2V select only C: drive (system drive) after completing the conversion and then try to run the VM.

Conversion Failing at 95 - 98 % is VM reconfiguration stage.  so. there should not be any problem.
