Do you not have routing in place to get from Subnet A to Subnet B? I've done these types of conversions a few times and the only problems I had were that I had to add entries into the hosts files on the servers because they couldn't locate each other. I had to add entries to the ESX server, VC server, and sometimes to the server I am trying to P2V.
