Hi everyone. I've been trying to clone a physical drive with windows 2000 over the network via converter. I then found, that i had to convert it to a VMWare Infrastructure Virtual Machine, so that i can actually use it, or am I just missing something here? Wether or not this is required, i've tried to convert the vmx file to the needed format but converter just crashes. No error, no exception, the window just closes without anything. I had to look into the log to locate the cause.
This is the path to the file:D:\Virtual Machines\Windows 2000 MVW\Windows 2000 MVW.vmx
And that's the error from the log:

any ideas?
Which version of converter are you using? Can you attach the complete logs using "File->Export logs"
For some reason, the converter database (which is used to store previous jobs, license etc.) has become corrupted. Hence the GUI is crashing everytime. There are couple of options:
1. Uninstall the application (also remove the license) when it asks you during uninstallation and reinstall converter
i've tried to reinstall everything without success. now when i want to go to the url you posted, the site asks me to register... again. i'm already registered!
please anyone? i can't download the "public" beta without registration, but i'm already registered.
Try this link after logging on. I guess it might be trying to re-register you for the beta (did you try filling in your information again?).
http://www.vmware.com/download/download.do?downloadGroup=CONV4-BETA
thank you again for your answer. if it try your link after login, i'm getting this:
VMware Converter 4 Beta
Sorry, at the moment you are
not authorized to download VMware Converter 4 Beta.
You have the following options:
If you have a valid serial number of
VMware Converter 4 Beta
and you have not registered it, please register it here,
so you can get download access.
If you want to get more information about
VMware Converter 4 Beta, please contact the VMware Sales department per
or telephone 1-877-4-VMWARE.
Hi,
You need to use the link http://www.vmware.com/publicbeta/CONV4-BETA
and register for beta. Unfortunately the previous links were for new users only.
sorry, that i still have to bother you, but i can't login there. it doesn't take the username / password i use to login into the forums. if i use the form to register a new account, it says, that there's already an account with that username (office@markgraf.at or just markgraf), which tells me, that i should be able to use my forum account, but again i'm not sure about that.
Hi, I have written a private message to you regarding this issue. Basically, your VMware.com login (associated with Communities username "markgraf") is a different email address than the one you provide above. How is it that you are logging into Communities with that other email address? That's not possible.
