VMWare does not support Linux conversion. Any recommendations what 3d party tool can be used?

The easiest way would propably be using the VMWare Converter Enterprise Edition to cold-clone the physical Linux System. This is an expirimental feature but however, i used it once and it ran without a problem. Of course there is some work on the vm to do, installing vmware-tools etc.

    Kind Regards,

It depends what Linux version(s) you are talking about, but PlateSpin PowerConvert can do P2V of some Linux:

    Redhat Linux (7.3, 8.0) ** Redhat Enterprise Linux (AS/ES 3.0, 4.0) ** SUSE Linux Enterprise (8.0, 9.0, 10) **

You have to use the cold clone boot disk, don't resize volumes.

Support for the following guest operating systems is Experimental. VMware Converter 3 can clone source images containing these operating systems, but the destination virtual machine may or may not work without additional configuration after import. In particular, if the source image contains unsupported hardware, you might need to modify the configuration of the destination virtual machine before using it:
