I'm getting the exact same errors. It seems like the hot clone option is pretty broken right now. I've spent all day making sure that the ports needed are open, etc. I can setup my jobs successfully, finding the source physical server, the VC destination host, etc. I watch it actually run in Virtual Center and as soon as it creates the VM, the job fails and destroys the VM. My current test is to actually install Converter on the physical box that needs to be converted. I have a feeling this might work, which indicates a major issue with the "remote" cloning feature. What good is this program if I have to install converter on every single server that needs to be "hot cloned". I'll post my next results.

Well, I installed VMConverter on a 2003 server and tried to do a conversion using "local" as source machine, chose the local c: chose my destination ESX host, chose the datastore and no joy. same generic error message. Very strange.
