Converter problems

I am having problems converting servers in the DMZ. Virual center resides on my internal LAN and cnverter 3.0 was installed on a dmz box. When I try and converter a dmz vm that resides on dmz host I get an error stating:

unable to connect to the remote vmware converter agent.

You need to make sure the following ports are open in your firewall. These ports need to be open between the server you are trying to convert and also VC and the ESX server that is your destination. Even when you pick VC as your destination Converter still needs to connect directly to the ESX server. You can check the Converter log for more info on what it is trying to connect to. It is located in the %Windir%/temp/vmware-temp directory on the server you are running Converter on.

Converter 3.0.0 uses the following ports:

• Converter application to remote physical machine - 445 and 139

• Converter application to VirtualCenter Server - 902

• Converter application to ESX Server 3.x - 902

• Physical machine to VirtualCenter Server - 902

• Physical machine to ESX Server 3.x - 902

Converter 3.0.1 uses the following ports:

• Converter application to remote physical machine - 445 and 139

• Converter application to VirtualCenter Server - 443

• Converter application to ESX Server 3.x - 443

• Physical machine to VirtualCenter Server - 443

• Physical machine to ESX Server 3.x - 443

be sure to test these ports using telnet as ping may not provide accurate results
