Hello all,
So we just started using converter for P2V's, its an awesome tool. I noticed that its changing the primary partitions to logical drives. Not a huge problem but if I add space to this logical drive it immediately wants to convert it to a dynamic disk. Dynamic disks is something we normally do not use in our environment. I ran through through converter a few times, is there something I'm missing? We are running the latest version - I will add that this physical server I setup to test converter in our lab.
Before conversion on physical server -
After conversion on VM -
Thanks
Javier
Hi Javier,
Unfortunately this is a long-standing problem in Converter, but it has never been highly prioritized in order to be addressed and fixed. I guess the assumption was that "it doesn't hurt" to have logical partitions. It is the first time I hear this is causing actual problems - added free space at the end cannot be used unless switching to dynamic disks. We should need to revisit this bug again and prioritize it accordingly.
As a workaround I would suggest that you can resize volumes as a part of the conversion process - you can add free space to each volume in the conversion wizard and would not need additional resizing after that. I know it is not a real fix but it might be enough for your case.

Ivan

Thank you, very much appreciated. Next release I hope.
Err... don't be too optimistic for the next release :-). In the best case the one after it.
