Converter for VMware Fusion

I want to create a VMware image from my Windows physical workstation.  The objective is to run the VM under VMware Fusion on my Mac.  I'm confused in reading the documentation as to 1) can I do this, and 2) how must I set this up to make it work?  Can someone give me some guidelines?

there is a inbuilt feature call Import Your PC under File. This will perform a P2V for you (if your machine is powered on). This is assume that you already have a NON OEM Windows license which allows you to transfer to another machine.  Else use the import feature under file again and point to the bunch of files created for the virtual machine on vmware workstation format.

there is no need to install anything on the MAC

install converter 3.0.3 directly on the win-machine if it is a 2000, XP or 2003

install 4.3 if it is win7 or 2008

then export the Windows as Workstation VM - that way it will be Fusion ready
