Converter failure W2k "Shapshot creation failed. driver=vss"

I installed converted on my 2000 laptop ( old Dell) and it fails at 97%

Any insight would be appreciated.

Trying to write out to a network drive ..

Are you sure you are a local admin on the PC? It seems to be complaining that it does not have local admin rights. The first thing converter does when you migrate to a VM is create a snapshot of the entire drive. If it does not have access to everything it will probably fail. Also did you reboot after installing Converter? How much RAM do you have in the PC?

Looks like you don't have admin rights for the converter service. Do you have admin rights on the machine you are converting? Also did you reboot after installing the agent?

Also, check if you have enough space in the source machine to store the snapshot. I think you need at least 200MB free on the volume being cloned...

I have full admin rights to the source. I did reboot after installing. I have 256 k of RAM on the source.

I only had 50MB available when I tried the first time. I freed up an additional 200MB and tried again, same results:

I know with 2003 and XP if the MS Software Shadow Copy Provider (VSS) service is not enabled it will fail with that same error. Since 2000 does not have that it installs a special non-VSS service. Is your Server service running, also Converter needs the TCP/IP Netbios service running, also make sure the Converter service is running.

Have you tried re-installing Converter, you also need to reboot after you install Converter before running it.
