Hi,
I have win2kr2 box with a iscsi software connection to our Netapp.
When I convert the physical box to virtual do I have to re-do the ISCSI connection?
Certain information is not retained during a conversion. For example the new virtual machine will have a new MAC address and possibly new UUIDs and IP information. Because iSCSI is going through the network and not a seperate fabric like Fibre Channel, the iSCSI device / conneciton may not like the changes. I am not a storage Guru so don't ask me why ; - )
I would advise you to remove the iSCSI connection, convert your machine and then once the new virtual machine is up and running, re-create the iSCSI connection.
Regards,
Graham
Thanks for your help, the conversion worked perfectly, the ISCSI connection was maintained.
