I'd have a look at Player's logs.

Hi;

The vmware.log file is located on the VM's directory.  If you don't know where this directory is, click on "Edit virtual machine settings" and check the location of your disk.

Julien.

WS 9.0 on Windows7 is here : "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\hostd". Not sure about Player - either the same or somewhere around.

First check if WS6 supports Windows 2008!

Should ask in Workstation forum about this.

At first glance it seem the network card can't be used and then Player refuses to get console connection to the VM:
2013-12-11T12:32:54.766-06:00| vmx| I120: E1000PCI: failed to register e1000e device.

a few lines later:

2013-12-11T12:32:54.766-06:00| mks| I120: MKS PowerOff

Try changing the network controller (e.g. with e1000). It this doesn't work - post in WS forum, as POCEH said.
