Hi guys, hope someone can help.
I've converted a Windows 2008 R2 from one ESXi 5 to another server ESXi 5.5.
Conversion was successful without errors however, the HDD space has not increased. Under Disk Management, it shows the correct space (700GB) yes in Computer it still remains at 200GB?
I've tried to rescan disks but it makes no difference.
What have I done wrong?
How can I correct this please?
Ta..
OK, I fixed it.
This is what I did.
I downloaded a free partition tool here: http://www.disk-partition.com/partition-assistant-lite.html
I used this tool to shrink the partitions (as Windows shrink wouldn't work) then used the windows disk manager to resize and all now looks correct. Its has remapped the partition table correctly.
Hope this helps anyone with the same issues.
Welcome to the Community,
can you please clarify this. You are saying "the HDD space has not increased", but the you are talking about the different sizes!? Maybe a screenshot of the disk management windows will help?

Good point. Let me give you an example screen shot:
I've also found this:
Someone also had the same problem but no fix?
So it's the C: and 😧 drive which do not show the proper size. This is most likely an issue with the partition table which might have not been updated properly. What usually solves this issue is to slightly increase the virtual disk size (by e.g. 1 GB) , then - if required - perform a rescan and expand the partitions from the disk management.

PS: Just saw your latest reply after I posted this one. Did you try to increase the disk sizes yet?
I'm reconverting now. Goto wait 5hrs before its complete
Will make it it think rather that thick work do you think?
Not yet,
I've deleted the VM and reconverting now. Thin or Thick?
EDIT: Oh wait, if resizing you can select Thick or Thin. Ignore. I will increase by 1GB.
Thin or thick doesn't matter, since it's a guest OS issue rather than a hypervisor issue.

OK, thank you. Shall report back.
Reporting back,
No this didnt work
This is bugging me sooo much
What else can I do?
