Convert a machine that is configured with boot from SAN.

Hi all,

I have a quick question:

Does anyone know of the best/recommended way to do a P2V if it is configured with boot from SAN?

(I assume that it is possible)?

Is there a KB on how to do it or any other information sources because I havent been able to find it?

We tried to do one of a Windows Server 2000 machine but after the conversion (which completed fine) the VM wont boot.

It seems to get stuck loading a storage driver.

I believe what we now need to do is rename or delete the storage driver so the OS will not hang at that stage (and also because it obviously doesnt need the driver).

However is there a better way to do the whole process or is what we are doing basically the way???

Thanks in advance.

We are using VMConverter v4.0.1

Hi, have you progress with this case?

My personal recommendation is to use latest Converter 5.1

Yes, you are correct about Windows 2000.

About driver - is there a list with services that you can stop after conversion (in advance options)? Is the driver is present there?

Otherwise you can boot from repair CD and fix the destination machine i.e. deleting driver.
