Convert MS cluster to a singel server

Hi!

We have an MS SQL that runs on a bad/old physical cluster.

SQL have a lot of databases that is on a EVA.

Is it possible to convert 1 node in the cluster to a singel VM.

And still have SQL running on that VM mapping the disks to EVA

Yes just install SQL on a VM, tell it's a NEW SQL server (not part of a cluster or an upgrade).

Migrate the DB's to the NEW server.

That's it.

Of course if you have a VM, you can shut it down, create a NEW partition on the new VM just big enough to install Windows / SQL and add the existing VM hard drive to the new VM, so you don't have to move anything, just reconfigure the server.

I know how to do that. Done it with many before.

The problem is that we have to have the orginal server in to VMWare.

We have lots of special DLL's installed on it.

So there is no option to build a new one

Why not P2V everything except shared LUN? before that, take it out from the cluster.
