Convert Linux PC into Virtual Machine

Hi All,

I am running VMWare workstation 5.0 with two guest OSs. I want to add another Linux system which is running in another physical PC. I downloaded the converter for linux and installed. How can I convert this physical linux PC to work under vmware workstation. Please help

Sorry, you cannot convert a Linux from physical to workstation VM directly. Linux physical to virtual is only possible if the target is a VC/ESX.

what about ESXi ?

then can you move a ESXi virtual machine to VMworkstation 6?

Yes. You can do a P2V (physical to virtual) of a Linux box to ESXi.

The secondary conversion will be done as a V2V, where the source will be a "Virtual Infrastructure Virtual Machine" to Workstation.
