I'm using Converter 3.0.1 and just finished a conversion of a Windows 2000 server.
I was a little concerned that the job failed at 99%, but checking by VC I found the vm was fully created and ready to go.
I've completed all my usual post-config tasks and have seen no ill-effects from the failure.
Anyone seen this before?
The logs don't help me much.
Hi,
Did you do the conversion using by running converter on windows 2000 server or by remotely connecting to it?
Can you please post the last 70-80 lines of vmware-converter log file that exists on Windows 2000 server in Windows\Temp\vmware-temp?
Thanks
Aashima

Remove the VM Converter Agent. Uninstall doesn't require reboot.
Close VM Converter Application and open it.
You will see Precess completed 100%
I did this remotely "hot clone".
Although, interestingly after adding the agents it asks for a reboot which it doesn't seem to do on windows 2003.
I won't have access to these log files for a few days, so I'm affraid I can't post these at the moment.
So that's the last 1% then, the removal of the agent.
I did remove this from the virtual machine once the conversion was completed, but didn't think about the original source machine.
Only Windows NT and Windows 2000 machines require reboot when agent is installed on the remote source machine.
Please see the following from Release Notes section for Converter 3.0.1-
"Converter does not uninstall the Converter Agent from a Windows 2000 remote physical machine
While uninstalling the Converter Agent from a Windows 2000 remote physical machine, the task can fail at 99%. Attempting to manually uninstall the Agent can fail as well. Workaround: Reboot the remote source machine and uninstall VMware Converter Agent manually using "Add or Remove Programs" in the Control Panel."
It is a known problem and occurs while uninstalling agent from remote source machine. The converted VM should not be affected by any means due to agent uninstall failure.

Excellent, thankyou I missed that.
I guess RTFM is helpful sometimes.
