Is anyone working on the new version really? It looks the same and the same, eg it cannot convert Ubuntu 18. Is anyone seriously planning further development of the converter?
Version 6.3 is now generally available: https://www.vmware.com/products/converter.html
Yes i known but what are the difference between 6.2 and 6.3 Beta?
I don't see any..
Check the 6.3 release notes: https://docs.vmware.com/en/vCenter-Converter-Standalone/6.3/rn/vmware-vcenter-converter-standalone-6...
Note that 6.3 is not a beta, as I mentioned it is now generally available.
Hi,
We are working on supporting conversion for other Operating system formats, you may expect the updates in the upcoming releases. You can check more about the product in the release notes: vCenter converter standalone Release notes
Ok Thank you ![]()
Ubuntu 18 is so long on the market.
Hello
Converter 6.3 is a revival of the product which has been discontinued for a few years. It doesn't add new functionality compared to 6.2. Newer versions are supposed to add more capabilities in the future.

Hello
This would be very good as this tool is often needed when returning from various types of cloud to local server rooms / DC.
Often these cloud systems are on KVM variants and customers happily welcome a return to their DC on VMware.
Therefore, the lack of conversion eg Ubuntu 18 is very bothersome. Plus, it shouldn't be too hard for the VMware development department. There aren't that many differences between versions 16 and 18.
Currently, Ubuntu is at version 22.04.1 LTS. It's a temporal gulf ![]()

Hello and thank you for your input.
We certainly have in mind extending the support for Ubuntu 18 and other new versions in Converter roadmap. As for how easy or hard this is, well... there are development considerations that are not obvious when using the product.
