Hello - I'm looking for some definitive information on the cold cloning process (from CD) for Linux
servers. There seems to be some conflicting information out and about.
- Does cold clone of Linux servers work? Which Linux versions?
- Which version of converter do I need (I saw someone said that more recent versions don't support cold cloning???)
- Where do I obtain the ISO to download to cut the CD?
Thanks,
Mitch
Hi,
I used the standalone converter it's a little tricky to get going but goolge for it.
I stopped all the services on the src system, started the client side, which connected to the server side which then pumped it into vCenter.

If you still want the offline converter CD see this KB to get the image, else log a support ticket:

coldclones of Linux with a boot-CD can only handle the imaging part of p2v - the driver adjusting has to be done manually later
