Clonig PC with OLD Compaq Desktop EN M/B

Hello, all!

Pelase, i have a problem:

I need to start at my PC VM converted from another:

Source PC:

Compaq Desktop EN

intel 820/815 chipset all-in-one, PIII-1000, 6GB HDD (this is remote machine, i can make image from it with Converter or similar)

Windows XP SP2 Prof

HOST PC:

Athlon X2 5200 ASUS M2NPV-VM, HDD 500/400/160/500 IDE and SATA.

Windows Server 2003

i need possibility to run virtually that machine on my HOST PC.

First, i made image with acronis of source HDD , and make new VM in VMWare Workstation.

Image not run, i have BSOD with 0x7B 0xC0000034 errors (seems chipset incompatible).

i replaces controllers in source system with std, but without success.

Can VM Converter make source image work on my host PC? Does it support old chipsets?

Thanks!

Chipsets shouldn't matter, but the drivers should be removed during conversion at some point. However, I don't know why you would use Acronis as the image source.

If the 2 computers are on the same network, you can use converter to create a vmware workstation or server image directly.

Please be aware that if you have an OEM version of Windows XP on the Compaq system, it may require activation after conversion.
