Can we configure the P2V VM when the Physical Server is still running ?

May I ask a silly question.

In order to minimize impact to end user, we have to perform P2V during office hour and configure it as well.

Since end user insist they have to access the application.  Can we configure (i.e. clean up) the VM while the Physical Machine is still running ?  Besides conflict of IP address, will there be any other problem ?

Hi,

Hot migration (Physical machine is running) is not recommended if your source machine is  Domain controller, Microsoft Exchange, SQL, or other database server . It removes any chance of corrupted database tables or stale data in the destination virtual machine.

Also disable the real-time antivirus scanning during the conversion.
