Can someone from VMware please create a video tutorial on Linux P2V ?
I have the impression that such a tutorial is needed here

that would be great if converter didn't totally break LVM. It's cold clone or nothing really (at least in my experience)
Hi Gabriel
do you have links to good howtos for doing it the hard way ?

For Converter for Linux there is this link:

For the hard way have a look at:
IMHO, I use another way:
- create clean VM with VMware Tools installed with the same distro version.
- keep the new /boot, /etc/fstab (I prefer change partition table on Linux VM to have one partition -> one vmdk), /etc/udev, /etc/vmware-tools
- give a temporally IP
- use tar to take and restore the system part (during the restore use --numeric-owner to keep original UID and GID)
- then use rsync to copy the data/application part
- test the VM
- do the last rsync and finaly switch
