I would like to take a virtual machine and put the windows xp pro os on a hard drive, slap it in a computer and boot it up. I know i need all the drivers for the specified computer so what complications would i run into. i am going to try to convert a physical machine to a virtual machine and then put the virtual machine back onto a hard drive and see if it works. As long as vm converter doesn't change the drivers, i think this will work. so my question is, Is this possible? and Does vm converter remove drivers and add the virtual drivers when converting or just add them.
AFAIK it will not remove any drivers, only add new ones. There's a nice PDF about the subject:
And there's a guy on the forum called Matthew who already sorted a lot of this stuff out, check this topic and just contact him: http://communities.vmware.com/message/804776#804776
