Attempt to restore vCenter vcb in converter crashes server

I'm testing the restore of a vCenter backup from VCB (1.5) using Converter Standalone Client (4.0.1 build 161434).

Restores of other VMs are working fine. I have two different VCB backups of my vCenter.

Everytime I try to view the source details, it crashes my restore server.

Any ideas? Is there something wrong with using VCB to backup vCenter?

Thanks.

Since you are using VCB to back it up, why not use VCBRestore to restore it instead of Converter? Are you resizing the disks or renaming the server? You can't run customization on vCenter, it doesn't like being renamed.

The trick to doing a quick VCB restore is to run VCB on a 2003 R2 or 2008 box. Then install Microsoft services for NFS (on the R2 second disk) and share the backup folders to the ESX box. Once you have mounted the NFS share on your ESX box, then you can run VCBRestore and pluck the backups directly off the the backup location without uploading them first.

Nothing wrong.

You can do it.

For VM restore I prefer use VMware Standalone converter 3.0.3 installed on the VCB proxy (I suppose that you have a physical machine for VCB).
