Application on VM can't startup after P2V

Hi,

My customer online convert his win2003 server to ESX 301. The migration is OK, OS startup without problem, but when he click some application icon on the desktop of VM, the application just no response, can't startup. Have anyone ever has such situation? Please help.

Thanks

Mark

>> The physical server of the AP has several disks, is that the reason that the AP con't startup after converted?

Sure - that is possible. The app may need files from that other disks - it may also be configured to write temporary file to that other disks.

Get depends.exe (google knows) and try to launch the app via depends.exe - any missing files will be revealed this way.

possible the application is UID specific?

you could look back at the vmware-converter-#.log file to see if any files were skipped

What application is it? Did it depend on specific hardware that is no longer available in a VM? Did it depend on a specific MAC address on its network adapter for licensing? (In the VM a new virtual network adapter gets created with a different MAC address.)

Hi,

The AP is an in house building application for Web banking, no H/W related or id lock.

The physical server of the AP has several disks, is that the reason that the AP con't startup after converted?
