Will it be possible to configure HA with 2 ESXI Hosts and what is the Storage requirement to do that

Hi All

We have to configure HA for 2 ESXI host nodes. Will it be possible..? And what are the storage requirements to do that..? And what type of license we need to configure HA for 2 ESXI hosts with minimum budget.. kindly suggest

Hi @Hareesh275,

HA with 2 Hosts is possible. You need a shared storage (FC, iSCSI, NFS) or vSAN for running a heartbeat datastore.

Licenses for HA is available for the lowest price in "vSphere Essentials Plus Kit" (includes vCenter) or if you have already a vCenter and less than 25 VMs you can go with the "vSphere Remote Office Branch Office Standard".

Hi Hareesh,

              VMware recommends to have at least three nodes in the cluster to avoid  resource constraints and limitations that may come with that. Also Minimum requirement for Licensing is you buy VMware VMware Vsphere Essentials Plus Kit   to run HA which actualy includes license for 6CPU and 1 vCenter essential which says even if dont have hardware your are buying the licenses.  As for storage requirements 

  • vCenter HA is supported and tested with VMFS, NFS, and vSAN datastores. follow link for more

2 are ok - 3 are recommend so 1 can fail and 2 are working.

but will be fine with 2 host as long both are running 🙂
