Lab setup VMC on AWS

Hi team,

I am going to setup a test lab to configure VMC on AWS. I need to know if AD server is also required for this setup (On prim or AWS platform).

Any important prerequisite's for such setup would be highly appreciated.

Regards

PK

Hello !

to deploy a single host or a 3 host for testing purpose AD is not required.

Can you describe a bit more the requirements on what you need to achieve?

Best Regards

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

This is what I would like to setup and test.

• I would like to configure polish environment to be VMC on AWS ready (vSAN / NSX).

• I will then Provision AWS landing zone in my sandbox.

• Configure hybrid connection

• Will create 3 test VM’s

• Migrate 3 test VM’s from on-premise to AWS via live-migration

• Migrate 3 test VM’s from on-premise to AWS via offline migration

• I need to check for any kind of dependencies.

Hi,

Thanks for the article.

But from the article is there any other provision (apart from pfSense device) we can use to configure VPN (Layer- 3)?

Hi there,

you are referring to the available testing Options within the SDDC.

This only means that it will try to reach the given IP on the respective Ports.

There is no need to have Active Directory for a PoC.

However, if you want to test HLM, AD connectivity and logging on to the VMC Service with on premises Users, then yes: you would need to add an AD as an Identity Source.

Please find a "how to" on how to add the same here:

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Cloud-on-AWS/services/com.vmware.vsphere.vmc-aws-manage-data-cente...

Hope this helps.

Hi,

It means, if we go for a POC of HLM, AD is not required?
