VMware AWS - Proximity Routing

Hi

Would like to check if VMware on AWS (VMC) does support proximity routing with HCX.

I see no reason why it should not be, but I have not tested it myself.

It has been support for the last several releases.  It has not been certified for docker/containers yet.  We've had a few issues with private networks.

the below article dated 12/12/2019  states that it is not supported

At the time, of this writing, the VMC cloud cannot be configured to meet the VMware HCX-PR requirements.

I do confirm, Proximity routing is not supported (for the moment) in VMC with our embedded HCX.

Is it with NSX-T?

Hi vdavid,

Proximity routing newly renamed "Mobility optimized networking" is embedded into HCX including HCX provided with VMC.
And yes, VMC leverages NSX-T.

Any questions?

thank you

I run into the lack of proximity routing during my PoC in early 2022. I knew it was released starting 2021 under the name "mobility optimized networking". So I ran again into this topic during my "VMware Cloud on AWS - Install, Configure and Manage" course and I was ablte to test the functionality. I can confirm its working as it should and it is easy to configure.
