Here's the situation:
2 production ESX 4 servers
2 backup ESX4 servers
We have the standard edition of Vcenter. I have the production servers scheduled to clone all VM's to the first backup box every morning.
I setup another set of scheduled tasks to clone the "clones" from the first backup box to the other backup box.
I have a powershell script to delete the old clones from the backup boxes just before the new cloning takes place.
The problem is, when the clones are deleted from the two backup servers, my scheduled tasks for the second backup box are all automatically deleted. In other words, when you have a scheduled task to clone, and the source of that clone job is deleted, the scheduled task goes with it.
Does anyone know how to either prevent the tasks from being deleted, or another way around this problem?
I realize that I could just setup the tasks to clone form the broduction box instead of the backup box, but do to performance worries I would prefer not to.
