Where To Install Data Recovery

This seems like a dumb question, but is the VMWare Data Recovery software (not the appliance component) suppossed to be installed on the VCenter server or on a host you use to connect to VCenter with the VSphere client?  I would assume it is the VCenter server, but I keep seeing people talk about using Data Recovery without VCenter so it sounds like it can be installed on a client that connects to the VCenter server via the VSphere client.

Hi,

Yes it is a client plugin which can be installed on any machine from where you do VI client sessions to your Host or vCenter server.

Hello,

You can run VDR without vCenter, but you will have limitation such as scheduled jobs will never run unless you have a vCenter.

Thanks, I've installed it on my workstation from where I run the VSphere client and it works great.
