Vmware Data recovery error-2241( Destination index invalid/damaged)

Hi,

I am getting this error when i try to do a back up the  error is given below:

Copying STC

3/17/2011 10:08:50 PM: Trouble writing to destination volume, error -2241 ( Destination index invalid/damaged)

3/17/2011 10:08:50 PM: Task incomplete

Would any one know what could be the problem here ?

i have been running the same appliance for a while now and have not had any issues but all of the sudden it started throwing out that same error and cannot seem to get it back on track....

I found some other articles that referenced deleting the .lck file/folder and the .cat and .cat.bak files from the root directory and have tried that to no avail.  it will complete the integrity but all the backups fail.  if i remove just the .cat and.cat.bak files the recatalog will fail with the same 2241 error.  if i remove all files from the vmwaredatarecovery folder except the ones with the actual backup data (000, 001, 999) then the recatalog will complete and so will the integrity check but the backups continue to fail with the same 2241 error.... i am at a loss.  did you ever find a resolution to your issue?
