Hi is it possible to take backup of a VM without VCB. If so how can we perform this.

If you have a third part backup software you should use software agent to backup the file system of the virtual machine.
You should also copy all files/folders you want from network by enable some share.
Otherwise you should power off your vm and copy all VM folder to another location.

Of course it's possible - but really depends on budget etc too. I've used Storagecraft Shadow Protect to backup VM's to a NAS before - works great but wouldn't recommend this is in a larger environment - depends on the customer size.
It mean we can use HP data protector?
Anyways thanks to all for your help.

Take a look at this topic:

According to the topic you can install the agent on an ESX host. Which means you would use the network to stream the data to your server instead of FC(VCB).
