i need
advice. We have a new costumer with a horrible backup strategy and vmware
construction. Here is the situation:
2 x ESX 3.5
with Advanced License and HA Cluster, around 10 VM’s
1x VM on ESX with SBS2003 and ArcServer r11.5 SP3
1x Backup Server (Hardware Machine) with ArcServe r12.0 SP2 and VC / VI,
connected to TX24 (tape device)
They use
ArcServer r11.5 to do daily Backup Copy Jobs (I found no system state backups)
from all VM’s (DC,Exchange, SQL and more…) to the Backup Server into a
directory. (I think there is nothing consistent) After that, they use ArcServe r12.0
on Backup Server to backup the whole directory on tape (weekly).
Unfortunately
they don’t have ArcServe Clients for SBS/Exchange, otherwise they could use ArcServe r12.0 to backup every
VM straight on tape. This is a horrible situation and iam not really sure what I
should or can do in this case.
Please, has
somebody any ideas?
