Hi there,
It seems that with 4.1 U1, VMware includes VMware Data Recovery on all vSphere Editions. After the update I can see "Data Recovery" on the licensing tab of my vSphere Standard hosts. The VMware Edition Comparision page (http://www.vmware.com/products/vsphere/buy/editions_comparison.html) also lists it as default with all vSphere editions.
This is a very welcome addition to the standard packaging. I'm not sure why this was not part of the release notes tho.
Regards.
Hello there,
This is correct. And you are correct, we didn't really advertise this much. But, what is also nice, is that people who already had vSphere Standard can now download vDR successfully - so long as they have current subscription.
