VDR Appliance and Update Manager

I've got a new vSphere Implementation and I downloaded the latest cd iso for Data recovery 1.1 dated 11/09. I deployed the applicance from that ISO.

When trying to scan it for appliance updates, the scan job hangs: Detect VUM GuestAgent 50%

any idea why it's hanging there? is it trying to install a Agent?

edit: Looks like agent failed. Is this appliance designed to use Upate Manager? if not no big deal. just seams like when i submitted a SR ticket for the applicance there was a newer build than i have? how do i update this thing?

I tried it and rejected it because it was too buggy.

I would test it against a less important single server.

I encountered issues where a snapshot task would hang, this would then prevent the machine from having any further task's applied to it.

I couldn't reboot it.

I ended up having two reboot two of my host servers and restarting teh host service on another host server to solve it.

They might have improved it, but I still think you should follow a defensive deployment strategy.

I believe it has it's own update utility, and the name escapes me.

The VDR appliance is not designed to be used with Update Manager. Not sure why it is hanging.
