VDP 5.5 Failed to get the datastores with performance analysis information

Hi all,

I have two VDP appliances running version: 5.5.5.180.

All of a sudden I cannot connect from Web Client to either appliance.

VDP status show all services as green on both VDPs.

root@vdp:~/#: dpnctl status all

dpnctl: INFO: Unattended startup status: enabled.

Clicking the Storage tab, displays error message: "Failed to get the datastores with performance analysis information" and no datastores are listed.

• Restarting vCenter, VDPs, does not change anything.
• I can login to VDPs just fine.
• CP are being created.

I had the same problem recently after re-installing vCenter. I could log in fine to VDP but I got the same storage error and when I tried to register VDP it kept failing authentication.

What I found is that although I had added the account I use to authenticate VDP in the web client I had to also add this account to the thick client.

log in to vSphere vClient as root.

With vCenter as the selected object navigate to the Permissions tab.

right click and select Add Permissions...

Add the account that you use to authenticate VDP as an Administrator.

This fixed both the storage issue and the registering issue.

Your Root account may be locked and if you are using that for authentication it will break.

Opened a support case and turned out that the VDP user's password (a user defined in @vsphere.local domain) which was used to access the vCenter has expired. Supposedly there is a bug in vCenter for some versions that makes them expire in 65 days.
