I use as restore target a separate Server with W03 and VMware Server 1.0.6.
On this Server I will start the restored machine.
The Server shows the message by starting the vm “VMware Server cannot find the virtual disk “VMwareName-000002.vmdk”. Please verify the path is valid and try again. Cannot open the disk ‘VMwareName-000002.vmdk’ or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Reasons: The system cannot find the file specified.
The restored machine has two hard disks.

How do you make the restore?
Are you using VMware Converter?

I restore with BackupExec v12 to a NTFS file system.
Than I open the .vmx file with VMware Server.
After this action the new machine is show in the inventory but I could not start it.
Should the machine working I used VMwareConverter to convert the machine to my ESX cluster
You have to use Converter to export in VMware Workstation/Server format.

How can I use Converter?
I am confused!
I think the correct way is:
Restore the machine image to a NTFS partition(the image was created with VCB + BackupExe12).
Than import the .vmx file to a VMware Server. Start the machine in VMware Server. At this point you have
to ways, first restore at file level or use Converter to import this machine in our ESX-Cluster.
My problem is that I can´t start this restored machine.
This problem machine has 2 volumes.
Other machines with just one volume I can successfully start.
Remember that VCB image is not ready to be used!
Install converter on VCB proxy.
Restore the files on VCB proxy.
Start converter, choose other (in source), choose your backup, then choose VI as destination.
