VCB Proxy server backup to tape

HI All,

I have VMware ESX 4.0 and EMC Networker 7.6 software and have a serious problem with Full VM backup machine.

The problem is that if I want to backup Full VM snapshot is created, mounted on the drive and... nothing happens Smiley Sad

All looks like hanged up. I don't have similar problems with other virtual machines. After snapshot is created Networker streams data to the tape, but with one VM it doesn't work Smiley Sad

What can be the problem?

Hello,

Your thread has been moved to the vSphere VMware Backup and Recovery forum.

Please tell us more about the VM, what OS, does it contain any RDMs and what type are these RDMs. What is unique about this VM is the first thing I would look at. Are there any errors in the vmware.log file related to this action?

Best regards,

Hi,

Guest OS of this machine is Windows Server 2000 32-Bit. This is SAP Database & Application Test server. Other SAP servers are backed up in the same way without any problems (the differenece is that Application server and Database server are on different VMs)

What is RDM?

Where can I find these vmware logs? Sorry, I am not VMware expert...

Where are stored VCB Proxy logs?

Thank you All for help!

Hello,

RDM -> Raw Disk Map. It is a way of using LUNs directly within a VM.

vmware.log files are on the ESX/ESXi host and available via vCenter. There is one set of logs per VM.

VCB Proxy Logs are on your VCB Proxy server.

You may be better calling your VMware Support Representative as they can walk you through all the debugging.
