Snapshot after adding New Virtual Disk

Will Snapshot will help me to recover after  I do below steps.

  1. Taken VM snapshot say snapshot ‘A’.
  2. Un configure the disk (remove the disk)say “disk –D1”, only remove from the virtual machine but not delete files from disk.
  3. Add a new hard disk say “disk-D2” and make it bootable(SCSI(0:0).
  4. Now If revert the snapshot to ‘A’, will it work and bring back my old Hard ‘disk-D1’

This should work as long as the snapshot's .vmsn file exists. The .vmsn file is used to save the VM's configuration (what you see in the .vmx file) as well as other information.

Vsphere client is throwing a error while performing step 2...one more update am working on ESXi 5.1.

'Step 2: Un configure the disk (remove the disk)say “disk –D1”, only remove from the virtual machine but not delete files from disk.'

Error:

Cannot remove virtual disk from the virtual machine because it or one of its parent disks is part of a snapshot of the virtual machine.
