Hello
I have a standalone DL360G5 with local storage. I have around 1.1 TB storage (1 TB free in Storage)
I have one VM which has configured with thin provisioning (256 GB storage) which is currently taking 14 GB. It should get an off site backup server.
When taking a snapshot following error appears.
"File "
The error message doesnt make any sense because it is only taking 14 GB of storage, and since i have more thatn 1 TB free of storage there shouldnt be any problem.
Do anyone know how to fix this or to get a workaround for a snapshot?
Thanks
I think you will need to reformat the datastore with a larger block size. At default the max is 256GB. Thin doesn't help here since a snapshot could grow beyond.

Thanks for the answer.
How do I reformat the Datastore without losing any data in it?
I would make a full clone of the VM as it is now into a thinprovisioned vmdk of a smaller nominal size.
In general I would avoid to create VMs with thin disks near the max-size allowed - that means asking for problems.

You would need to copy your VM to another location and reformat or as continuum said use the converter tool to clone the VM to new VM with smaller size disk.

I never mentioned to use Converter - I would use ghost
