Scanning tool for a backup inventory

Hi,

I need to make a complete inventory of all our servers. We are switching to CommVault (backup solution) and we need to figure out what would be the ideal licensing plan (by socket, or VMs, or TBytes, etc..).

So i'd like to know if someone can recommend a product, to not only scan our VMs (90% of our servers), but Windows and Unix servers too. A scanning tool that will be able to retreive all the servers vital information from a host list or something similar.

What i need to know:

- ESX servers with the number of sockets

- # of VMs hosted by them

- OS

- HD size

- HD space being use

Thank you

Thank you Richardson, it's a great tool for VMware. You don't have a similar one for physical servers, do you?

You're welcome and don't forget to award points for helpful or correct answers.

About physical server, I can recommend Microsoft Assessment and Planning toolkit: Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit
