Hi!

I am new to Vo the VDR. Can anyone point me to the steps / settings i need to follow in order to perform SAN mode backups using VDR? Does it need any special licenses?

Thanks in advance

Rahul

Does it need any special licenses?

It required that your ESX is licenses for this features (Essential Plus, Advanced, Enterprise or Enterprise Plus).

VMware Data Recovery Manager: A guide to installing and using VDR

It's done on a VM by VM basis. not on the SAN side.

Thanks!Which means the performance could be lesser compared to VCB backups using SAN transport mode?

The performance is near to VCB in hot-add mode.

But VDR after the first full backup will make incremental backups...

So it may be faster, cause less data will be transfer.
