Running Backup Exec (2010) on a VM (ESXi 4)

I have a situation where my backups are taking far too long to run; 12 hours for Diffs and 48 hours for the full. There are many reasons for this which I have tried to address by various means however it comes down to our fileserver (1.2 TB) being backed up across the LAN. I would like to setup the filesever as our new media server running BEX 2010 as this would increase throughput times when backing up the 1.2 TB of data. Below are the details of what I am thinking of doing, just looking for some input to ensure that what I want to do is possible; I believe it is.

Host System - Dell Poweredge R710 running ESXi 4.0 update 1

VM - Win2K3 Stnd. SP2

Backup device - Dell Powervault 124T robotic library

Required hardware - SCSI card

Realizing of course that I would need to add a SCSI card to the host system (not an issue) I want to know what else do I need to keep in mind in order to accomplish this? Is this even possible?

It is possible, and should provide good results, provided the hardware is supported.  See here for more information:  http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1016407
