Retention Policy query

Hi Folks,

I would need your assistance to understand retention policy of VDP.

Unfortunately VMware document doesn't explain it so well.

I want to backup a VM daily and retain the backup for 14 days.

Please correct me -I understand after 14 days, backup data will be deleted. So what happens if on 14th day I wish to restore and restore point is deleted?

Do I have to schedule one more Job on 13th day, so that if something happens I can use 13th day backup?

If you define a 14-day retention policy, VDP will keep these restore points for 14 days. When a restore point becomes older than 14 days, the restore point is deleted. This is a "rolling" policy - in other words, the scheduled backup job will continue to run generating new restore points every day, but as the older restore points reach an age of more than 14 days, they are deleted.
